young businesswoman crossing her arms, showing off her natural looking smileIf you’re looking for cosmetic dentistry to improve the appearance of your smile, you’ve probably investigated multiple treatment options to get the beautiful new smile you’re hoping for. You’ve learned that dental bonding is a quick and easy way to improve your smile. It preserves your natural teeth, but the changes you can make are limited.

Dental veneers, also called porcelain veneers, on the other hand, can make very dramatic changes to your smile. However, they require that we remove tooth enamel to make room for the veneers. This doesn’t seem like a good choice for many people who want to preserve their natural tooth enamel. Looking at these options can make you feel like neither will do what you want.

Fortunately, there’s a third option. Prepless veneers Let us dramatically improve your smile while removing little to none of your natural tooth enamel.

What Are Prepless Veneers?

Prepless veneers are thin facades of advanced ceramic that bond to the fronts of your natural teeth. By giving your teeth a new visible surface, they can improve the appearance of your smile, making your teeth look brighter, whiter, and straighter.

They are made of ceramic that’s similar to other dental veneers. However, while other veneers require that we prepare your teeth by removing dental enamel, prepless veneers bond to your teeth with little or no enamel removal. Sometimes we have to remove a small amount of enamel to make room. Other times, we might just lightly roughen your enamel with acid to improve the bond strength between your teeth and the veneer.

What Can Prepless Veneers Do for You?

Prepless veneers are suitable for many of the same situations traditional dental veneers are. Prepless veneers can:

  • Brighten your smile
  • Cover small chips
  • Close gaps in your smile
  • Enlarge teeth

With prepless veneers, we are giving your teeth a brand new surface. They will cover the discolored surface of your natural teeth with a veneer that can be much brighter than your natural teeth–even after whitening.

If you have small chips, wear, or minor damage to your teeth, prepless veneers can cover this, helping your teeth look healthy and whole.

Prepless veneers are great for closing small gaps between your teeth, called diastemas. Prepless veneers can also enlarge your teeth, helping small teeth to look more normal in size.

Benefits of Prepless Veneers

There are many things people love about prepless veneers. With prepless veneers, you can enjoy:

  • Painless procedure
  • Quick procedure
  • Beautiful results
  • Long-lasting results
  • Reversible procedure

With little to no removal of tooth enamel, the prepless veneer process is essentially painless–most people don’t need any numbing.

Because we don’t have to prepare your teeth to receive veneers, the process takes a fraction of the time. Sometimes we can do it in one visit–but it depends on the results you’re looking for.

Properly done, the results of prepless veneers are as good as with other veneers. They look beautiful and natural.

As with other veneers, the results from prepless veneers can be very long-lasting. They can last for decades.

Unlike other veneers, the prepless veneer process is typically reversible. We simply remove the veneers, and you go back to your smile as it was.

Who Is a Candidate for Prepless Veneers?

You are a good candidate for prepless veneers if:

  • Your teeth aren’t too dark
  • You have small teeth
  • Your teeth are healthy
  • You do not clench or grind your teeth

Prepless veneers are very thin. They are also translucent, which helps them look more natural. If your teeth are very dark in color, the color will show through the veneers.

Prepless veneers add to your teeth. If your teeth are already normal-sized or larger, prepless veneers will make them look too large–you won’t be happy with this result.

Prepless veneers don’t protect your teeth. They depend on your teeth for support. If your teeth aren’t healthy, prepless veneers might not be the right choice to improve the appearance of your smile.

Prepless veneers are relatively strong. However, they are vulnerable to clenching and grinding (bruxism), just as your natural teeth and traditional veneers are. If you are a bruxer, we will want to address this before deciding how to improve the appearance of your smile.
