Here at Dr. James Polley’s Summerlin dental office, we hear many of the same questions from our patients. A common concern is when our patients think that if you are having a root canal, it will be a painful process.
Actually, this is a common misconception. The most painful part of a root canal is usually the pain that brings you into our office and leads to the discovery of the decay or infection that requires this procedure.
A root canal is necessary when decay or infection has reached the inside of your tooth. The infected part will be removed from inside your tooth. Then, your tooth will be sealed, probably with a crown, to prevent further decay or damage.
Your mouth will be numbed so you won’t feel much discomfort during the procedure. Also, since Dr. Polley is skilled at oral sedation, this is another option available to help increase your comfort while having a root canal.
Having a root canal is not anywhere near as painful as you have heard. We are concerned about the comfort of all our patients, and try our best to always provide quality care and comfort to everyone. Schedule your appointment today to see just how easy it can be!
